Work began on the new EP for local rock band, The Elizabeth Kill. Thanks to some tight performances from the band, we were able to get through tracking remarkably quickly and onto edits and rough mixes. Can't wait to hear the finished result. | |

Today's session saw producer/director Doug Usher and actor Johnny Lewis (from the FX television show "Sons of Anarchy") recording ADR for their new independent drama. Beautifully shot, and well acted; we were all really impressed by the footage and can't wait to see the finished product. | |

Tracking today with rock pianist ESG for his sophmore record, set for release in the new year. The session combined the talents of The Other Side of Morning drummer, Tom Yagodinski with pro bassist Charles Brandick for ten hours of rock bliss. The result was an awesome blend of musical styles which is sure to translate into one of the most unique records to come out of Mas Music yet. Next up, overdriven Rhodes '54! | |

Saturday morning session with singer/songwriter/producer Tyler Johnson and his band; Sara Lindsay (drums), Derrick Wong (bass), Ewen Williams and David Carrera (guitars). These guys came in and knocked out 5 songs in 7 hours and had a blast. Thanks to everyone in the band for kicking ass and making the session run smooth. It was an interesting morning recording episodes 57 & 58 for the iTunes Essentials podcast, "Weekly Rewind". Thanks to the great team from iTunes for making the session a pleasure. Singer/songwriter Nathanial Castro with OPM drummer Shane Mayo, record drum tracks for Nathanial's debut solo album. Shane added a strong groove on the drumset and then laced the track with some rhythmic conga work. A great collaboration on a great song, check back for release dates. | |

This month Mas Music is happy to be producing fresh new artist Carie Vejvoda. This pop/rock singer incorporates strong writing with a soulful voice ranging from intimate ballads to pop/rock anthems. Pre-production went smoothly and tracking began with resident Mas Music drummer Amador Solis providing a tight backbone for the tracks. Hip-hop artist JunSix began work on his latest album starting with the track "Begins With J". Set for release in November of '09, the track went down easy with some tight vocals and signature JunSix production. Check out a short behind-the-scenes video. | |

Jamaican gospel/reggae artist Keith Barrett added vocals to his latest track. Keith brought in fresh new guest singers and tracked them together to give the song that "community" vibe. Sounded great ladies, look forward to hearing more in the future. | |

Los Angeles salsa group Guapacha has released their latest album. Recorded at the Bob Cole Conservatory at Cal State Longbeach by Jesse Hellen-Lloyd with additional tracking by Tim Moore at the Mas Music Studios, the record was mixed and mastered by Tim Moore of Mas Music Productions. Session horn player Michael Briones stopped by the studio today to record trombone on tracks for the new record by LA salsa group Guapacha. Band leader Gilberto Torres along with Nelly Zamora were on hand to produce the session. The album is almost ready for mixing and should be released by October of 2009. | |

This week the Henry Bermudez Trio began work on their new album. Set to be truley a group effort, the new record utilizes production skills of both Henry Bermudez, Mas Music and Derock Goodwin of C4 Music Labs aswell as both the Mas Music and Eagle Rock Studios. Day one has drummer Flip Vint and bassist Chris Gongora put in a monster tracking session, recording the majority of the albums rhythm tracks. Thanks to our friends over at Eagle Rock Studios for help on getting the album started. | |
